Last week, your child started a perfect pet project. I read the book, I Wanna Iguana, which is about a boy who tries to convince his mom to get him an iguana. We then brainstormed a big list of pets. Students picked their top two choices. During this project students used a decision tree to decide which pet they would prefert. The decision tree helps them focus on the pros and cons of each choice. Soon students will be researching their pet on the computer, in books, and using care sheets from pet stores. Students will be writing an informational piece about the pet they chose as they write about appearance, habitat, care, etc. students seem excited!!! Also, students will be writing you a persuasive letter explaining why they should get that pet. Be prepared! |
