The scripts are written. The self-reflection is done. The portfolios are filled, in order and ready. The students practiced. They are ready!

Weebly is kind of working on my phone where all my pictures are stored, so let's give it a try. Time to play catch up! We have a lot of super heroes to catch up on! I love how different all of their posters are! This is Kaylynn the superhero. Say "Hi, Kaylynn!" This is superhero Jordan. She read a great book to us this week and wore the cape proudly! Throughout the month of March, students got to enjoy some lumberjack food. Here they are eating doorknobs (biscuits) while they write a letter to their family back home from a lumberjack's perspective. I LOVED reading these. Kids got so into the part of acting like a lumberjack. They wrote words like "reckon," and dropped the "g" off of the "ing" words. They used a lot of 'Jack Jaw and showed me that they learned a lot about the miserable conditions of a lumber camp. This is Amanda the Big Push writing her letter. She actually gave me a paycheck! It's tough workin' for her! Just look at this super hero's smile! Jason is always wearing it! During our study of apostrophes, we made noun foldables. We labeled each flap with words and definitions for noun, singular noun, plural noun, common noun, proper noun, singular possessive noun and plural possessive noun. Students then had to go through catalogs and magazines to find examples of each. Kiley and Paige were awesome super heroes a couple of weeks ago! Every Friday we have been having fun dressing up as lumberjacks or other workers at a lumber camp. Students were a little surprised to see their teacher with a beard! Students could sign up to interrupt with a good book. Here, Evelyn is interrupting with a good book. As soon as she called out "I interrupt with a good book!" we all dropped what we are doing and meet in the group spot to listen to her read. Students got to enjoy some sinkers! Yummy! We talked about how back then their sinkers didn't have frosting and sprinkles. Sorry it has been awhile since an update on here. Two weeks ago, there was a death in the family and then I developed bronchitis and it lingered for a long time. I was in and out of the classroom, mostly out, I think. Then, the mobile version of Weebly is not working on my phone, which has all the pictures! I realize it has been a long time, and for that I am sorry!
But, that doesn't mean we haven't been doing some SUPER learning! Friday, we had our official "Dress like a Lumberjack " day. It was great to see all the beards and mustaches, especially on the third grade teachers. Students have really taken advantage of interrupting us with a good book. They sign up for a day where they have to stand up in the middle of class (as long as we aren't testing) and shout, "I interrupt with a good book!" Then, we all stop what we are doing, make our way to the group spot, and listen to them read a book to us for seven minutes. I love listening to all the different books during the month. We've been doing a lot of essay writing to get the students in the habit of including a introduction that hooks readers, parallel structure, and a strong conclusion. This week, we started our informational unit. I love this unit! Students have so much to teach me- everything from horses to cheering, fishing to baseball. We have had many awesome super heroes and I will be sure to post those pictures and other pictures when I get my phone figured out! Until then, try to check back. I won't go so long before another update. |
