Wade is our super hero this week! He can often be seen with his cape billowing out behind him. sunshine! Maddox is making good use of his time by reading while he waits for the bus.
First, students filled out a Venn Diagram as they watched a movie about present day lumbering. After some discussion and sharing with others, students organized their thoughts using a box and bullets organizer. Many students remembered to used parallel structure when naming their reasons. Then, it was time to let them write their essays and show off their awesome opinion writing skills! Feedback was then given to students to let them know what they got and what they still need to work on. We will begin our unit on informational writing after spring break!
Last week, Aiden rocked the cape as he was our super hero of the week. His poster was very color coordinated! Thanks for sharing, Aiden!
Dylan was our super hero a couple of weeks ago. He wore his cape proudly and made sure to be respectful, responsible, and safe. Thanks, Dylan!
Come on kids! Let’s end reading month going strong! Keep those reading pictures coming. They are great! Karter enjoys hanging with a good book. Bree and her cute cat enjoy some snuggles as she reads.
While students read an article about the Great Chicago Fire, we learned to ask ourselves "What surprised me?" So much of the wood lumbered from the Muskegon area went to rebuild Chicago after this fire. The kids were surprised by a lot of the information in the article, which led to great discussions.
To get my Weebly App to work, I had to get a new phone. My phone was so old that it would no longer update. I got a new phone, so now we are back in business. I have some catching up to do, so make sure you scroll down until you see a post you’ve already visited. Otherwise, you may miss the post about our opinion writing. Here are some of our recent super heroes- Avery was our super hero last week. She truly is a hero who is safe, respectful, and responsible. Thanks, Avery! I took Trustan’s picture on pajama day. When he wasn’t wearing his pajamas, he was wearing a billowing red cape. I took Erabella’s picture on hat day. She is a super hero who is respectful, responsible and safe. Andreigh was our super hero. He always has a smile on his face! We’ve had fun every Friday dressing up like workers in a lumberjack camp. We’ve had Big Pushes, cooks, blacksmiths, and lumberjacks. It is still March, so keep sending in those reading pictures! Here are some I received recently, well, at least since my phone wasn’t working. I love them! Gabby reads one of her favorite series. Erica reads with (or to) her cat Tiger. Wyatt finds a cozy spot to do his reading! Aiden loves numbers, even reading about them! On pajama day we had our pizza party for collecting the second most box tops in the school. Way to go kids!
