On Fridays, because of library, we have some extra time before we switch with Mrs. Woller's class, so I checked out the chrome book cart. We will do this for most Fridays now and use them to practice typing, looking at our classroom website, and playing educational games for about 20 minutes.

We had a wonderful learning experience at the Lakeshore County Museum this week. Thank you to all the parent who gave their time to volunteer. Because of you, we had very small and manageable groups! Students got to see many items that they have been learning about in Michigan History. It was great to hear them excited to make those connections. They also learned a lot about how to take care of their body and be healthy, and they got a little glimpse into our next unit on lumbering. This truly is a great group of kids!
Today in the classroom session, students learned about helping swimmers who may be in trouble and then they got to practice in the pool. Reach, Throw, Let go!
Our super hero last week was Athena, who proudly wore her cape and presented her awesome poster with confidence. Way to go Athena!
The deadline to sign up for Girls on the Run, an awesome program for girls that focuses on fitness, nutrition, friendship, and self esteem, is quickly approaching. This year, registration is easy and online and it ends February 1. Sign up now, girls! It is so much fun!
It has been so fun getting to know Connor this year. Connor is a super hero who is always safe, responsible, and respectful!
We started our nonfiction reading unit by beginning to read about Antarctica and penguins. While students read the text Penguin Chick, we will be working on finding the main idea of paragraphs, both stated and unstated. This takes a lot of practice, as students often want to talk about an interesting detail from the paragraph. Any time your child reads nonfiction at home, practice finding the main idea!
Here are some cute penguins we made after returning from pool school. Super hero Ruth shared a wonderful book with us and could be seen with her cape billowing behind her.
