This week at pool school, students learned about beach safety as they talked about the different colored flags and what to do if there is a rip current. In the pool, students made waves with boogie boards as students struggled to swim through them.
Because of all the snow days, Piper was our super hero for two weeks. Her poster was incredible, so full of color! Way to go Piper! The second week of pool school focuses on helping someone in the water who is struggling. In the class session, students discussed different items that could be used to help people because the items float and can be thrown to people in the water or because they are long and can reach people who need help. Three words were stressed- Never Swim Alone. In the pool, students then practiced helping people who were struggling. They got to take turns being the hero and being the person that needs saving. Everyone brought their suits this week!! Thanks again to the dads who helped- we couldn't do it without you! The first week, nerves seem to out weigh the excitement for some students, but by the time we are on the way back to school, the excitement for next week is great! We started our time there with the classroom session, learning the basic pool safety guidelines and learning our way around the pool room. Then it was off to the pool.
Students did a fantastic job listening, being safe, and having fun! A special thanks to the dad who helped out!! |
