I have had a few parents and students ask questions about this difficult spelling sort this week. The words chase and chased are regular verbs that just get an "ed" when changed to the past tense. The verb "kneel" is irregular because we don't changed kneel to kneeled. Instead, we say knelt. So, the words bake, walk, and mix belong under chase because they are regular verbs and their past tense forms go under chased. The irregular present tense verbs like think, teach, and drink go under kneel. Here is a picture that may help!
Last week we had a wonderful super hero. Clay presented his amazing poster, wore the cape with confidence, and shared a book with us. Thanks Clay! Keep being the wonderful super hero that you are!
In the spring, students will be taking the M Step test on the computer. This is just a preview of what it will look like, and this preview is not just for third graders, so it includes questions for other grades. The preview allows students to get exposed to the different tools that they can use. It must be used in the google chrome browser to work.
https://wbte.drcedirect.com/MI/portals/mi/ott1 In the classroom session, students learned a safety lesson on what to do if someone is choking. In the pool, students participated in a variety of activities. Some groups practiced saving someone drowning while some swam to the bottom of the pool following a pole straight down. Today was the second time students used our new Chrome books to practice logging in and navigating the desktop. They took their spelling tests on it toda as welly. Students are getting quicker with them every time we get them out! |
