Draglodon, Momcat, Lygle, Zebradile, Turgle! Such creative ideas! Good work, kids! I would love to see these animals in real life at a zoo or maybe even as a cute pet! Remember, even though you are not at school, use capitals and periods in your writing. Also, when you are writing a paragraph, don't forget to have a main idea opening sentence and to use transitions and details. Thank you so much to everyone who sent me a picture of their creation. Here are a few for you to enjoy! This is Lygle. He lives in the magical forest. He eats magical fish that can fly. He is a lion plus eagle. He is one of a kind.
Here is our Picture Book of the Day for today! Enjoy! I hope you enjoy the writing activity today. After you watch a short video, you have to think of two animals and their features, and combine them to make one new animal. I was thinking about what I would do. . . maybe a Giriger or a Tigeraffe, a mix between a giraffe and a tiger. I picture an animal tall like a giraffe and shaped like a body of a giraffe, but striped and colored like a tiger with a big cat-like tail and more of a tiger face on top of the long giraffe neck. Ha! If you can send me pictures of your animal and paragraph. I would love to see them! My daughter has actually started a section in her sketch book of all different animal combinations. Don't forget our sea and air creatures too! Think of the big and small creatures on our Earth. So, my paragraph might look something like this: This is a Tigeraffe. It lives in the savannas of Africa. The Tigeraffe has a body shape like a giraffe, but is the color of a tiger, it and has a head like a tiger on top of the long neck. Its long cat-like tail swishes when it is hunting prey. The Tigeraffe uses its long neck to eat birds and other animals out of trees. It prowls around on its long legs looking in trees for its next meal. Maybe one day you will be able to see a Tigeraffe at a zoo! I love seeing so many of you on Epic. Go to getepic.com and visit with our classroom code ten5869 during the school day and you can get on for free! Here is the Learning Plan reposted so you don't have to keep scrolling down! Just click on "Download File" and it will take you right there with working links.
Logan did a great job of imagining a conversation between two cows after Monday's reading. Last week, Connor followed Scholastic's suggestion of using LEGOs to find area, perimeter, and volume! I helped my boys practice their counting while beating them in a game of Sorry. It was a close one! Bryson (in gray) almost won! If you think you know the answer to the new riddle, comment on this post. I would love to hear from you! Or, just tell me something fun you have been doing with your time or the thing you miss most about school. I’ll see some of you from my homeroom class on our Zoom tomorrow at 1:30, and I’ll post a video everyday for the picture book of the day for everyone. Today’s is below this video. Happy reading! Picture Book of the Day- Max the Brave
Come back tomorrow for a video with a new riddle! It looks like some of you figured out the last one. Well done!
Enjoy your reading assignment today! I think you will learn some new things about cows. The learning plan for third grade is in the post below.
Mrs. Denhof’s art link got deleted. She made a new video. Here is the link- Art Videoyoutu.be/gAVboDX54NY To see the third grade learning plan, click on "download file" above. As the week goes on, you may need to scroll down to see this schedule because I will be posting some videos with riddles and some videos of Picture Book of the Day, so the schedule will keep getting moved down. This schedule will also be emailed to parents, but I know for some kids, that isn't as convenient, especially if the parent is working.
Hello! Listen to the video below for a new riddle and for some specific directions and reminders for the writing on the Scholastic Site. There are links below the video too for the Picture Book of the Day. Have a great day! Scholastic Site- Week 4, Day 20. I would love to see your sequencing frame, narrative story, or opinion paragraph!
Picture Book of the Day- I Hope You Dance. . . sometimes it is a tongue twister, so the reading is choppy at times! Enjoy! Scholastic Site- Week 4, Day 19. After reading the article is "TikTok Good for Kids?", do the "Continue the Learning Journey" at the bottom by writing an opinion paragraph that supports the opposite side of what you think! Just like in the last post I shared, your paragraph should have a sentence that states the opinion, at least two reasons that support the opinion and write more about each reason, and a concluding sentence. Remember, we called those our "so what" endings to our paragraphs. I would love to see pictures of your paragraphs or, if you remember your password to your google account (what you type in when you open your Chromebook at school) you can type it on a google doc and share it with me, or you can try writing it in cursive!
It also suggests teaming up with someone in your home, picking a favorite song, rehearsing, and recording it! A relative would love to see that video, I am sure! There are some other great articles on Day 19 about puppet doctors and dog detectives, for all the dog lovers in our class! Happy Reading! I love seeing pictures of what you are up to- from making sculptures out of candy, writing, weather pictures, building forts, reading, and creating art. Keep learning and keep having fun! This is a great example of an opinion paragraph! Starting the paragraph with your opinion statement, giving at least two reasons and saying more about each reason, and ending with a concluding sentence. Well done!
