In third grade, friendly letters are a focus of ours. They need to not only zoom in on one or two things (not a list of things), but they also need to have all the parts of a friendly letters, right down to the little commas and the indentations. This was a great practice of those learning targets.
Students wrote a thank you note to Alyssa and Erin for our awesome field trip. They invited us, free of charge, to the Nuveen Center and to do some outdoor science activities. We just couldn't let that go without a big "Thank You!" We were able to hand deliver the cards when they came to our assembly last week. They were so touched!

Halloween was a big hit! First, as soon as the students entered the building, they were on the look out for Waldo from the Where's Waldo books. Many staff members dressed like the characters in Where's Waldo, who look a lot like Waldo, but there was only one Waldo who matched the description and picture we showed the kids. Many kids figured out who it was by lunch time. It was Mrs. Connelly, our recess aide. Students rotated to all the other third grade classrooms in the morning. They then made jack-o lanterns in our classroom. After lunch and special we made candy corn necklaces. Then it was off to recess. Students came in from recess excited about feasting on goodies. Thanks to all who brought something to share. It was greatly appreciated! While the students munched, we enjoyed a movie. |
