Today the kids learned four important words- Reach, Throw, Don’t Go. Students learned that if someone needs help in the water, reach for them, or something that floats to them, but don’t go in after them. Then the students practiced these skills in the pool.

Emily was our super hero last week and what a super hero she is! She’s always safe, responsible, and respectful as she walks the halls of RRO. Thanks, Emily!
As you well know, students are learning not just how to spell certain words, but also learning the spelling patterns of words. I gave each spelling group a word that was not part of their original sort but fit their spelling patterns. Students had to think about what column their new word would go in and explain why the word would go in that column. Soon, we will start hunting through our poems in our binders to find words that fit our spelling patterns. The students' sticky notes give me a good idea if they understand their sort and their spelling patterns.
These are a few pages from our Haiku book that is getting published. The kids have been working very hard on them. Please, don't forget to turn in the paper, whether you are ordering one or not. We would really like to get a book for our classroom.
