We finished up our narrative writing and are about to start our opinion writing, but I wanted to do a quick writing project with the students first. After reading The Best Part of Me, students talked with kids at their table about what they thought was the best part of them. I heard such a variety of parts- thumbs, hearts, feet, eyes, glasses, pacemaker, hair. I was filled with happiness when every students was quickly able to name one or more parts that were their favorite. Students then filled out a graphic organizer and wrote a rough draft of a short piece of writing that explained why it is their favorite part. We edited it, wrote a final copy, and paired it with a black and white picture of their favorite part. They will be hanging in our main hallway soon! |

With her constant responsible, respectful, and safe behavior, Gentry definitely deserves to be called a super hero. Just look at that smile!
Santiago was our super hero of the week. He is a true example of what a hero is- safe, responsible, and respectful. Thank you Santiago!
Cooper was a magnificent super hero who proudly wore his cape as he walked the halls of RRO. He is often spotted being respectful, responsible, and safe. Thank you Cooper!
To do a quick review of what a verb is, we played a dice game. Students worked with a partner in this game to see who can think of the most verbs. Each student takes a turn rolling a dice trying to roll a six while their partner tries to think of and write down as many verbs as they can think of. As soon as a six is rolled, the student grabs the pencil and they switch. The other students now is trying to roll a six while the other student is thinking of verbs. The winner is whoever has the most verbs after time is called. This can be played at home and be played to practice many different things, like multiplication facts.
