I can’t help but think about our half finished lion puzzle sitting on the counter in our classroom. We have been doing a lot of puzzles at our house. I included a few pictures at the end of this post. Like in our classroom, I like to see my own kids working together to complete something. Anyone else besides my family and Logan working on a puzzle?
Hello! Here are some things you can work on for the next couple days, if you get a chance-
Be healthy, laugh, giggle, explore, create, build, tell stories, make memories, rest, play games, and be your awesome self! Hello parents and students! Mrs. Woller wanted me to let you all know that she moved the tadpoles into a nice, clean bowl yesterday. They continue to grow and we will share their progress on here. Also, I made a collection of frog and tadpole books on Epic that you can read if you get a chance. Go to getepic.com and our code is ten5869. They are awesome books, mostly nonfiction, but some fiction. You will be able to see close up pictures of what tadpoles look like at the stage yours are at right now. Our next unit in reading when we return is nonfiction. We will be learning about text features like photographs, captions, headings, table of contents, index, graphs, maps, diagrams, and bold words. We will be focusing on asking ourselves three questions as we read nonfiction. The first question is what surprised me. So, as you read through some of the books or listen to them, ask yourself “What surprises me?” or what makes me think “Really?” You can spread out the frog and tadpole reading for awhile. Don't feel like you need to read it all today! I am going to have my third grade daughter do the scholastic site Day 3 today! That too is full of good stuff! Take a virtual video field trip to the American Revolution with Lauren Tarshis, author of the best-selling "I Survived" book series. There is also an article about what makes a better pet a cat or a dog. At the bottom, it suggests writing a persuasive/opinion letter about which one is better. It would be great practice if you did that! You can write the letter/email to me, a friend, or a family member. Don't forget to include reasons and to say more about each reason, like we practice in school. You can also read about an awesome domino designer! Happy reading! Hello! I am just checking in and letting you know I am thinking of all of you. Please listen to this video and follow the links, if you get a chance. scholastic.com/learnathome and readworks.org using Ellis class code of YEXBVQ and Woller code of 6NR7QD. The passwords are 1234. Happy reading! This month, we are going to be talking a lot about what lumberjacks wore and why they needed to wear certain items. We decided to draw some lumberjacks, and many of us were inspired by some recent read alouds to give the jacks skinny, little legs. I love how they turned out. You can see them when you come to conferences, but if you can't make it, here are some pictures.
