During morning meeting time, we have been discussing the importance of cooperation, whether it is playing on a sports team, making up a game out at recess, working together on an assignment for school, or making dinner as a family. We talked about how some people are natural leaders, but they have to be careful not to be bossy. Others, observe for awhile, thinking of a plan or solution, but they may look like they are doing nothing, even when their mind is busy at work. And then you have the people kind of in the middle that are trying right away to solve it, but not leading the group. And, unfortunately, you have the people who do nothing, but are disengaged and not helpful. Last week, students got in a human knot and had to get untangled, read many picture books about being cooperative, and had to work on a very tricky puzzle with square pieces and of a mystery picture.
