I have found that letting students play with the play-doh in their goody is a wonderful activity to help calm nervous and give the students some down time on an otherwise hectic, jittery day. We turn on fun music, break out the toys that Jaely lets me borrow from home, and chat with our new table mates while we roll, mold, squish, and transform. There is something so therapeutic about molding and squishing play-doh!
