Their maps needed to be labeled, as well as a picture of their habitat. And, of course, students needed to have accurate spelling of third grade appropriate words, end punctuation and capitals. Many kids worked so hard on these projects, and others did not put forth any effort. Here are some examples of what the project should look like, and then there is an example of what it shouldn't look like.
Your child's project will be coming home soon, so I wanted to show you what the expectations were. A checklist will be coming home with the project that will tell you if your child has it, doesn't have it, or somewhat has it for each area. Students needed to have labeled flaps in their project. Students had as much time to work on it as they needed. In fact, I still have two students who are finishing theirs, but some chose to turn them in unfinished and with little effort.
