Today, we read the story Wolf! The genre of this story is fantasy, but there are many realistic events that occur in the book.
Your child should have brought home a paper that looks like the one below. (If your child is in Mrs. Woller's class, it will come home on Wednesday!) This is a chart we filled out as we read the story. Some of the items we did together, some your child did with a friend, and some the students did by themselves.
Ask your child to retell the story using "Giant Steps." We learned a lot about the Wolf by his actions and words. That is how we get to kIt is a wonderful story!
This tied in perfectly with our new unit of study we started today in writing. We are beginning to collect ideas and entries for realistic fiction. Students are so excited to make up a story for a change! We will work for awhile on collecting stories and using strategies to write seed stories.
