Next we will work on writing leads, or beginnings, to our realistic fiction stories that hook our audience into reading our piece. We try to start stories with dialogue, an action, a sound, or a description. And then we will use our Story Mountains to write our stories with great detail, description, and dialogue.
I can organize and sequence events in my story We have been working on making a plan for our realistic fiction stories. Now it is time to begin sequencing the events, and to do this, we are using story mountains. Story mountains take students through six questions that help them organize and sequence the events of their story. We discussed how all authors of the books they read, take the time to organize and sequence the events that are in their stories. Next we will work on writing leads, or beginnings, to our realistic fiction stories that hook our audience into reading our piece. We try to start stories with dialogue, an action, a sound, or a description. And then we will use our Story Mountains to write our stories with great detail, description, and dialogue. After we completed our Story Mountains, we looked at how other authors started their stories. We discussed how authors begin their stories with an action, dialogue, a sound, or a description of their setting. Students wrote at least two leads to their story as they tried using either action, dialogue, a sound, or a description of their setting. We looked again at the rubric that will be used to grade their realistic fiction stories to see what the students need to do in order to get at least a 3. Here are a few examples of some of the students' leads. We aren't worrying about spelling and punctuation yet. We are just focusing on getting our ideas down on paper. These students are well on their way!

Hope we can share our favorite books at school soon like we did in 2nd grade! I have really good books! Better get some writing with so much reading! I hope once i publish my story, I hope you will like it! I'm really good at typing and writing fast. Lots of things going on right now! I got a new computer, speakers, keyboard, and a new mouse! I also got an action camera! (Water-proof, bike and helmet mount camera) With a tripod. All i need is a sound amplifier. Those are really hard to get. They are like $100.99 or more. I can still not use one and still do YouTube videos! I wish i was one of the most popular kids in the world. Are your twins doing good? If I could go to your house, it would be cool! I am a bit terrestrial i think. I hope you have fun on your vacations also! I do like you a lot! You are like one of the smartest people in the world for writing, like me! Hope you like the apple puzzle i gave you! Its like a physics puzzle! When will you teach us physics? I really want to know about them even since I know a lot about them! I want other kids to learn more so start physics soon! Like in February or soon! Mrs. Ellis, the cute teacher for you! I know this is long but I don't want to tell you too much in many comments! Are you famous for anything? I am really curious about your life and you must be curious about my life also! I might bring in baby toys for your twin babies! They are just SO CUTE like you are! Hope you like the message but there is still more! I have lots of questions for you to answer. So much that you will be amazed! I'm really good at math so i can help you with it! Did you ever go to Florida by car? I did! I really like the beaches there just like school! I hate the water unless for clam collecting! I do collect clams sometimes! I do have lots of toys. Lots, I mean lots. Sorry for the long message. Still got more to tell and ask! What is your favorite food that you can bring to school? Mine is Tapioca bread French Toast. It has flax seeds, oat meal, cinnamin, brown sugar, and mostly the biggest ingredient, Tapioca Bread. Tapioca is a plant like potatoes but you can make bread, wheat, flour, and cakes with it! More of the bread category it is used for, like, bread, waffles, and more! I know i do like having fun also, this tells you a LOT! Having lots of fun? What's your favorite present you got? So much things I still have to say but i cant remember. If i still had the other ideas also this would only be half of what i was thinking! Too much chat with you, do you think? Who's lead did you like the most? SO MANY THINGS TO SAY THAT I'M SO CRAZY RIGHT NOW!!!!!! Just that I'm so excited!

Wow, Benny! You do have a lot to say! My favorite food is cheese, of course. This isn't really a place to chat, but rather to comment on what the post is about. So here, under this post, your comment would be about our realistic fiction stories, story mountains or leads. We chat every day at school, silly!

How was your day today? Did you know that elephants can grow up to the side of 2-4 1/2 buses wide? And they can weigh up to 70 school buses filled with 10th graders!

The biggest squid could even be up to 2 cruiz ships (maximum size)? Those are called Krakens. I know a lot! So even huge 8th grader tests cant fool me sometimes! 1,000 x 1,000 = 1,000,000
