After reading The Best Part of Me, students talked with kids at their table about what they thought was the best part of them. I heard such a variety of parts- thumbs, hearts, feet, eyes, glasses, and hair. I was filled with happiness when every students was quickly able to name one or more parts that were their favorite. Students then filled out a graphic organizer and wrote a rough draft of a short piece of writing that explained why it is their favorite part. We edited it, wrote a final copy, and paired it with a black and white picture of their favorite part. They will be hanging in our main hallway. |
